The Command Zone is a media production company specializing in the world of gaming, with a focus on Magic: The Gathering. We create high-quality, entertaining, and educational content focused on the Commander format, including gameplay, webseries, podcasts, and other online videos. Our mission is to help players enjoy Magic more, while having a ton of fun along the way.

We are a quickly growing company looking for a Visual Effects Assistant. VFX Assistant Functions 

• Support VFX team in the creation of high quality visual assets.
• Work closely with the content team to provide ideas and solutions to vfx related issues.
• Participate in R&D efforts to improve overall look and quality of our content.
• Help with the set-up and breakdown of equipment and sets for production and other events.
• Perform quality control on various content assets.
• Run errands, as the VFX and production teams require.
• Other duties as projects require.

Additional Qualifications: 

This is an entry-level position so none of these are required, but they are a plus:

• Any experience (amateur or professional) creating VFX.
• Any experience or proficiency working with “tools of the trade” (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Nuke, Blender, Cinema 4D, Max, Maya, Unreal Engine, etc).
• Any experience creating motion graphics.
• Production experience of any kind (PA work, lighting, sound, editing, cinematography, etc).
• A familiarity with Magic: The Gathering.
• A love of gaming.
• Passion and excitement for creating awe inspiring high-quality VFX and motion graphics.

Role Requirements 

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CA driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Minimum of 2 years of applicable professional or educational experience.
• Willing to undergo a background & driving record check.
• Must be located in the Greater Los Angeles area (this role is not remote).
• Must own or have access to a vehicle.

Physical Requirements

• Position may require employees to bend, walk, stand, lift, crouch, stoop, crawl, squat or kneel for extended periods of time.
• Position may require employees to lift 50 pounds or more on occasion.
• The position may be occasionally exposed to outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and dry conditions. Additional working conditions may include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, and dirty worksites.
• Position may require employees to sit for extended periods of time while using electronic devices and therefore may be subject to extended exposure to screens.
