The Command Zone is a media production company specializing in the world of gaming, with a focus on Magic: The Gathering. We create high-quality, entertaining, and educational content focused on the Commander format, including gameplay, webseries, podcasts, and other online videos. Our mission is to help players enjoy Magic more, while having a ton of fun along the way.

We are seeking a full-time Video Editor who has a strong passion for MTG and extensive experience doing professional editorial work. We’re looking for someone with an exceptional eye for visual storytelling, who can quickly and efficiently transform raw footage into engaging, high-quality content that captures and retains the audience’s attention.

Video Editor Functions 

• Assemble and edit raw footage into polished and cohesive final videos using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Work with producers, directors, and operational management to ensure that priorities are met.
• Perform quality control on various video and audio assets.
• Aid in the creation of media assets required for videos and other projects.
• Project-based research and troubleshooting.
• Monitor traditional media, online video platforms, and social media to stay up-to-date on current trends and discourse.
• Other duties as required by the editorial and post-production staff.

Additional Qualifications: 

• Expert level proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro. 
• Multiple years of professional editorial experience working at a TV/film/commercial production company, YouTube channel, creative agency, or the like.
• Knowledge of VFX and GFX workflows.
• Familiarity with Photoshop, After Effects and other “tools of the trade” is a plus. 
• Production experience of any kind (PA work, lighting, sound, editing, cinematography, etc.) is a plus.

Role Requirements 

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Minimum of 4 years of applicable professional experience.
• Willing to undergo a background & driving record check.
• Must be located in the Greater Los Angeles area (this role is not remote).

Physical Requirements

• Position may require employees to bend, walk, stand, lift, crouch, stoop, crawl, squat or kneel for extended periods of time.
• We like to have our editors present on set during production when it’s feasible, so the position may occasionally be exposed to outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and dry conditions. Additional working conditions may include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, and dirty work sites.
• Position may require employees to lift 30 pounds or more on occasion.
• Position may require employees to sit for extended periods of time while using electronic devices and, therefore, may be subject to extended exposure to screens.
