The Command Zone is a media production company specializing in the world of gaming, with a focus on Magic: The Gathering. We create high-quality, entertaining, and educational content focused on the Commander format, including gameplay, webseries, podcasts, and other online videos. Our mission is to help players enjoy Magic more, while having a ton of fun along the way.

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Editor who has experience managing media and editing videos, and a proficiency working with Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and the other “tools of the trade.” This position will work closely with our editorial staff and should be competent in both administrative and creative tasks.

Assistant Editor Functions 

• Provide editorial, creative, and technical support and assistance to producers and video editors.
• Aid in the creation and organization of footage and assets required for videos and other projects.
• Work with producers, directors and operational management to ensure that priorities are met.
• Perform quality control on various video and audio assets.
• Project-based research and troubleshooting.
• Monitor traditional media, online video platforms, and social media to stay up-to-date on current trends and discourse.
• Other duties as projects require.

Additional Qualifications: 

• High degree of familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop (required). 
• Experience editing videos for online content.
• Any professional editorial experience working at a TV/film/commercial production company, YouTube channel, creative agency, or the like.
• High degree of computer literacy.
• Familiarity with After Effects and other “tools of the trade” is a plus. 
• Production experience of any kind (PA work, lighting, sound, editing, cinematography, etc.) is a plus.

Role Requirements 

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Minimum of 2 years of applicable professional or educational experience.
• Willing to undergo a background & driving record check.
• Must be located in the Greater Los Angeles area (this role is not remote).

Physical Requirements

• Position may require employees to bend, walk, stand, lift, crouch, stoop, crawl, squat or kneel for extended periods of time.
• Position may require employees to lift 30 pounds or more on occasion.
• We sometimes like to have our AEs on set during production, so the position may occasionally be exposed to outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and dry conditions. Additional working conditions may include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, and dirty work sites.
• Position may require employees to sit for extended periods of time while using electronic devices and, therefore, may be subject to extended exposure to screens.
